Across Europe, many children are becoming less physically active, and learning environments often separate physical movement from classroom knowledge. Yet, research shows that sport and STEM education are powerful when connected — both support problem-solving, creativity, confidence and well-being. Children who are active tend to show stronger motivation, better focus, and healthier development in the long term.

In this context, there is a growing need for learning opportunities that help young people use both their bodies and minds together. Sport introduces teamwork, perseverance and enjoyment; STEM nurtures curiosity, innovation and future-ready skills. When these areas are combined, children not only learn scientific ideas — they experience them through play, discovery and real-world challenges.

Sport & STEM Fest has been designed to respond to these needs. By bringing teachers, youth organisations and local communities together, the project promotes inclusive participation, active lifestyles, and hands-on learning experiences that spark joy and curiosity. The approach supports the goals of the European Union regarding digital skills, lifelong learning and health-enhancing physical activity.

Ultimately, the project aims to strengthen children's skills for the future, increase their engagement in science and technology, and empower them with habits that support their physical and emotional well-being. Sport & STEM Fest celebrates learning that moves — both the brain and the body — shaping a healthier, smarter generation across Europe.
